Jiajia is a 7-year-old girl. She was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome when she was 5. Her mother took good care of her and attached importance to her diet. Why protein intake is closely associated with kidney disease?

Long-term high protein diet can increase blood flow in kidneys and glomerular filtration rate, making glomerular blood vessels into high pressure state so as to speed up glomerulosclerosis and kidney function impairment. Besides, it can worsen proteinuria. That is why kidney patients are required to follow low protein diet. On the other hand, massive protein goes out of body every day. If you do not supplement it timely, it can cause protein deficiency, malnutrition, decreased immunity, infections and so on to make renal disease worse.
