Is It Safe for FSGS Patients to Take Forskolin

Question: I have FSGS. My GFR is 47. Creatinine is 1.23. BUN is in normal range. Is it safe for me to take forskolin? I am about 80-100 lbs overweight.

Is It Safe for FSGS Patients to Take ForskolinAnswer: Forskolin is a natural supplement derived from the root of a plant. It has been used to treat a variety of health problems, such as insomnia, convulsions, heart and lung disease. Besides, it may also aid in weight management. Could I know what do you want to use it for? If you want to lose weight, to eat medications is not good for you, after all it will bring you a series of side effects, such as low blood pressure, elevated heart rate, increase stomach acid levels, drug interactions, etc.

How to lose weight for FSGS patients?

It is likely for FSGS Patients to have weight gain because of steroid intake. The gained weight will gradually lose after you stop the medicine. If you are not satisfied with your figure now, you can do exercises and adjust your diet to lose weight rather than take some medications. Besides, you can also try some alternatives instead of steroids for FSGS. In Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital, Toxin-Removing Treatment is a good choice. It is consisted of various Chinese medicine therapies, such as medicated foot bath, full bath, navel therapy, steam therapy, enema therapy and so on, which do not bring you as many side effects as steroids. It can also take advantage of your urination, stool and sweat to remove excess wastes out of body, providing a good blood condition for kidney self-healing and other medication application. Besides, it can also improve blood circulation and increase blood flow into damaged kidneys to provide them with enough oxygen, nutrients and active ingredients of medicine to speed up kidney recovery. After about half month’s treatment, swelling and proteinuria will decrease. After about one month’s treatment, your FSGS will be stable gradually. After about months’ treatment, you will get complete remission.

It is not safe for FSGS patients to take forskolin, because it may bring you a lot of side effects and counteract the effect of medications you take. Therefore, you had better talk with your doctor about it.
